Minister for Health and Medical Services, Rosy Akbar launched World Diabetes Day at Koroivolu Park in Nadi this morning.
November 14 is commemorated globally as World Diabetes Day with year’s theme is “The Family and Diabetes”.
Akbar said was timely as it showed the importance of family in deciding healthy meals and lifestyles as Diabetes puts a lot of pressure on your pockets, on your time and family, so the theme is very timely.
She adds that many times we neglect our health, don’t exercise and eat at the wrong times and that has great impacts on our health.
The event included health screenings for members of the public and information booths.
Peer group representatives also took the opportunity to share their experiences.
