World Autism Awareness Day was today celebrated at the Sigatoka Special School with the theme ‘“Assistive Technologies, Active Participation”.

Officiating at the ceremony Minister for Education, Heritage & Arts,  Rosy Akbar stressed the need to help and improve the quality of life of those with autism so that they can lead full and meaningful lives as an integral part of society.

She also highlighted that the Ministry is strengthening inclusive education options for children with disabilities and their families across Fiji, while continuing to support the services that special schools provide to children with particular and complex disabilities, such as Autism.

The celebration was attended by students from the various special schools in the Western division along with their parents and guardians.
