A man who swam to a vessel with the intention to allegedly steal money was quickly apprehended by a security guard yesterday morning.
The suspect allegedly swam to the vessel berthed at the Millers Wharf, climbed onboard and stole a $100 note and coins from inside its office.
The incident occurred at around 8.30am and he was quickly apprehended by the shipping company’s security guard whereby officers based at the Millers Wharf were called to the scene of the crime.
He remains in custody as investigations continue.
Meanwhile the suspect alleged to have stolen a motor vehicle from a Laucala Bay shopping complex has been charged.
The accused has been charged with one count of theft of motor vehicle.
He will be produced at the Suva Magistrates Court today.
