With an increasing urban population of fifty three point nine percent in 2018, a growth of 0.8 in 2 years – the water supply needs in Fiji is also rising.

According to the World Wildlife Fund for Nature – Pacific, with economic developments such as water bottling, power generation and irrigation – water storage and flow, has been altered.

Given the changing climate to date and its impacts, and the projected impacts in the future of what we are currently experiencing – water supply needs, will intensify.

WWF Pacific says – with this background, it is important for the country to have the same understanding and appreciation, of the role of the river systems and their watersheds.
