A Water Authority of Fiji Board Director, Hemant Kumar, earlier this week inspected the water and wastewater systems in Labasa, accompanied by the Director for Water and Sewage, Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport,  Susana Valemei, as well as members of WAF’s senior management.

Kumar was impressed with the hard work undertaken by the WAF team and that the highlight of trip was visiting the intake up in the hills, a beautiful location, with clean fresh water coming into the system.

Their visit began at the Authority’s Labasa Depot in Vatunibale, followed by the Namara Wastewater Treatment Plant and the Nasealevu Water Source.

They also visited major ongoing projects in Labasa, such as the sewer mains upgrade from Nivis Road to Damanu, as well as the Rara Reservoir.

The tour concluded after visiting the new WAF depot site in Vatunibale.

Kumar said that the WAF board and management are closely monitoring the systems in the Northern Division in terms of future projects to expand and extend its coverage for the demand in the near future.
