It was a memorable day for the people of Nakorolevu village of Namara Tailevu as the Minister for Employment, Productivty and Industrial Relations, Jone Usamate as he commissioned the Namara Pilot Project.

Usamate commissioned the project by planting the first sandal wood plant in Koroniyau. The Namara Pilot Project which employs 30 villagers for 3 months looks to create a source of income for the village through the planting of sandalwood.The 30 villagers who are also part of NEC receive $100 a week for their work.

The Namara Pilot Programme also involves the Ministry of Foresty which provides sandalwood seedlings and the Ministry of Agriculture that provides training.

Minister Usamate urged parents to encourage their children to work hard and start a business rather than working hard to get a job.
