The country director for the United Nations’ World Food Programme in Fiji has been suspended alongside another senior male staff for alleged sexual misconduct with female co-workers.
The reports of Australian citizen Anthony Freeman and another male staff were discovered last month
A UN spokesperson in Bangkok said the Suva office will be looked after by another staff while the investigations continue.
Freeman was in charge of about 15 staff and his role included enforcing the UN’s code of conduct for employees.
Two independent investigators outside of the UN will carry out the investigation and will report back to the headquarters.
