The Fiji Police Force have no excuse after CCTV footage showing the attacks in Suva was released last week.

With the spike in robbery and mugging cases Deputy Commissioner of Police ACP Rusiate Tudravu admits there are some gaps and the force is looking into increasing visibility.

“We don’t have any excuse, we have the man power and the resources, the only thing is that we have to be smart in terms of deployment and to know what is happening on the ground. “

“We admit that there are some gaps in terms of deployment but there will be more patrol because we want the streets safe for the people of Fiji and those that are visiting us,” said Tudravu.

Tudravu says the recent rise in robbery cases is a wake up call for the Fiji Police Force.

Tudravu says the force need to reposition itself and map a way forward.

Tudravu says Fiji Police have no excuse as it has the man power and resources to patrol the streets and prevent the rise in criminal activities

He added that people should show patriotism rather than being involved in criminal activities that portrays a bad image of the country.
