Topline Warriors won the first ever Veilomani Shield Challenge after beating neighbours Nabua Broncos 24-12 at the USP Ground yesterday.
The Broncos started the match well with two successive tries in the first half.
They were leading 12 points to nil before the Warriors started their campaign.
Fiji Bati halfback Kelepi Komaisavou played a key role for the Warriors at halfback.
Komaisavou was instrumental in setting up three Warriors tries.
The Warriors from upper Mead Road in Nabua scored two tries in the first half and it was both converted by Komaisavou.
Both teams were locked at 12 all at half time.
But the Warriors started the second half in style with a brilliant try just inside the first three minutes of the second spell before they sealed the game with another converted try.
The Topline Warriors took home the Veilomani Shield and $500.
The matchup wll be on a yearly basis as a reconcialiation initiative to try and bring youths from Nabua together.
