Team Fiji Badminton’s Chang Ho Kim improvement continues to show after he won his second match in the team doubles at the 2018 Youth Olympic Games in Buenos Aires in Argentina yesterday.
Despite losing both his single matches, Chang Ho combined well with his doubles partner from Norway to win their second match.
Team Fiji Badminton coach Robbie Thackman praised the effort put in by his athlete.
“He worked hard in his singles but still lacked international match experience,” Thackman said.
“Following his singles match he again had a good team match experience.
“His game is improving and he’s working hard as a team member.
“In his last team doubles event their team came first and are top qualifier in the knock out stages.”
Team Fiji Athletics’ Serenia Ragatu had an early morning session yesterday (Wednesday 10th) at the tracks where Coach Calvin Yee conducted light drills and stretches.
He also attended the Athletics Technical meeting which covered the format where athletes have to compete twice, stage 1 and stage 2 with 400m women in 26 entries.
Meanwhile Team Fiji Table Tennis coach Carolyn Li was all praise for her player Grace Yee’s performance despite not winning any of her single events.
Speaking after Yee’s last singles table tennis match yesterday, Li said;”I feel Grace played better than her first day despite the result.
“During the competition we would identify more areas that needs improvement and weakness compared to world level players.
“But nevertheless it was a close match against New Zealand yesterday after a takeoff set points were quite close,” she said.
“And she also did well against one of the top seeded players from Brazil as well.”
Meanwhile, Grace’s team event starts on the 12th where she will pair up with Australia’s Benjamin Gould.
