Crisis comes in different forms and Fijians need to be aware of the signs and symptoms of Suicide.

This was the sentiments of ‘Lifeline Fiji’ Officer-In-Charge – Jeremiah Merekula.

He was responding to the recent suicide deaths involving the loss of three young lives – the youngest an 11-year-old boy from Kadavu.

Merekula said three suicides in a week is ‘a lot’, and he believes this calls on support networks and us as individuals, as to how we are creating safe spaces, for those who are going through crisis.

‘Lifeline Fiji’ is calling on everyone to raise awareness on this issue, wherever they are… Just asking your friend.. “ARE YOU OKAY?” “HOW ARE YOU?” You can be saving someone’s life.

The National Crisis Help-Line number is -132 454, and is always available.

Meanwhile ‘Lifeline Fiji’ is calling on all Fijians to wear “YELLOW” next Moday -10th of September, in support of ‘World Suicide Prevention Day’.

A vigil led by ‘Lifeline Fiji’ will be held at Shirley Park in Lautoka, from 6pm-8pm.
