The Director of Public Prosecutions, Christopher Pryde, has said the State will appeal the decision of the High Court to acquit Yvette Dianne Nikolic on charges of importing illicit drugsinto Fiji and possessing arms and ammunition without a licence.
The High Court acquitted Yvette Dianne Nikolic of all charges following a finding of no case toanswer on 18th February 2019.
Her husband, John Geoffrey Nikolic, was convicted on the same charges and is currently serving a sentence of 23 years imprisonment.
Pryde said that the judge made an error of law in finding there was no case for Nikolic to answer.
The Notice of Appeal against the decision to acquit was filed in the Court of Appeal thisafternoon.
