The South-end of Port Muai-Walu 2 will be closed off from today.
The Fiji Ports Corporation Limited is advising its stakeholders – that the South end of Port Mua-i-Walu 2 will be closed off from today, until May 10th, to allow the deck overlay maintenance project, to be carried out.
As already communicated individually and discussed during the Stakeholders’ Meeting, the maintenance project will result in limited berthing capacity at the wharf.
However, there are other alternative berthing arrangements already in place.
Vessel operators and owners have been reminded on timely submissions of berthing applications, and weekly schedules – in order for proper prior planning to be carried out for vessel berthing arrangements.
Alternative facilities to accommodate berthing include the Government Shipping Services facility, the old shipyard and also Princess Wharf.
The maintenance project will be in 2 phases with the maintenance covering 42 meters from the South end of the King’s wharf. Phase 1 is scheduled from February 21st to March 31st, while Phase 2 is expected to be from April 8 to May 10.
Vessel operators and owners are advised to work closely with the Fiji Ports Corporation Limited, to see how best they can utilize the limited berthing capacity, during this maintenance period.
