Labasa women’s football coach Arthur Simmons is confident with his girls in reaching the final of the Vodafone Women’s Inter District Championship on Sunday.
Speaking to Fiji FA Media after their third pool match, Simmons commended the girls for getting three out of three from the pool games.
“Well I put down everything to the hard work of the girls in the trainings and their togetherness and also gelling with the new players in our team,” he said.
“Our preparation has been only for one and a half week because of adverse weather conditions.
“I’m thankful to the girls that they have been putting up a good performance until now and getting all three wins which is something what we really didn’t expect.”
Simmons said he already had his game plan for Tailevu Naitasiri in the semi-final on Saturday and was confident of qualifying to the final.
When asked if he is confident of a final spot, he said “absolutely”.
He has also tagged Suva, who will battle Ba in the other semi-final, as the dark horse of the tournament.
“Suva is a strong team and they might even cause an upset,” he said.
The semi-final will be held this weekend.
