COP23 Climate Champion and Minister for Defence and National Security, Inia Seruiratu this afternoon participated at a panel discussion on how to accelerate climate action at COP24.
He highlighted the talanoa concept as being widely accepted, creating an environment where everyone has a role to play.
“Our Prime Minister keeps referring to this canoe because we are from the Pacific and it’s a way of living. For us if we go back to the traditional way of transportation, its through these canoes that we have. So we are all in the same canoe and we are rowing to a common destination and that common destination is about the net zero emission by mid-century and working towards limiting average global warming to 1.5 degrees.”
