The Global Employers Climate Action Forum officially came to a close in Suva yesterday.
Speaking at the event, the Minister for Agriculture, Rural & Maritime Development, National Disaster Management and Meteorological Services, Inia Seruiratu, who is also Fiji’s High-level Champion for Global Climate Action, said that the forum was an important step to establishing the Pacific network.
“And I hope that when the Presidency of the network shifts North, engagement and collaboration here in the Pacific will continue and strengthen,” Seruiratu said.
He also said that meeting the commitments Fiji has made to the world in Paris requires more ambitious and effective climate action by all stakeholders, including sub-national governments, companies and civil society around the globe.
“We need to step up engagement with non-party actors to promote climate-compatible investment decisions to encourage innovation and development and to harness their skills and knowledge,” Seruiratu said.
