A Four-Day Oceania Football Confederation Senior Futsal Coaching course concluded on Sunday at Fiji FA Headquarters in Vatuwaqa.
Twenty futsal coaches from around the country took part in the first futsal coaching course.
OFC futsal development officer Paul Toohey said the main objective of the course was the first step of the OFC coaching journey for the coaches at MA level senior course.
“So the participants came and now they have completed the course, once they get their certificates they will be very much on the pathway to the next step which is futsal C-License,”
“The main objective after they go from here was to work in their districts in developing futsal,”
Toohey said it was compulsory for a participant to coach a team where they would be assessed and monitored.
“They performed very well during the course and they need to continue and keep working for their districts and stay in the data base then only they will be given certificates, “said Toohey.
Toohey said many of the players had come through playing futsal
“Futsal is where players create their skills playing short-sided game and this is very beneficial for football,”
“The vision Fiji FA is showing now to incorporate futsal into football activities is a really good one, a really strong as Fiji will rip the benefits, “said Toohey
