Labasa Football side will enter the 2018 edition of the Vodafone Fiji FACT under their former rep and coach Anand Sami.
The legend of Fiji Football has taken the charge of the Babasiqa Lions a month ago in their campaign to win the fifth Fiji FACT title.
He coached the Babasiga Lions to their first Courts Inter- District Championship win in 1992 at Ratu Cakobau Park, Nausori where they beat Nadroga 2-0 in the final.
Sami showed his worth last year when he took up the challenge to coach newcomers Tavua side in the Courts IDC.
Tavua won the hearts of many fans with their performance holding Lautoka and Nadi in the pool matches before losing to Suva.
The former national has the caliber to mold a winning team and no doubt Labasa will be a team to reckon in this tournament.
Labasa will be riding high on their lethal combination from the old days of a mixture of young and experience campaigners.
The side have been boosted with the return of their star strikers Christopher Wasasala and Ashneel Raju.
Former U-20 defenders Antonio Tuivuna and Jale Dreloa are likely to be key in defense with veteran Taniela Waqa while the experience of midfielders Edwin Sahayam, Ilisoni Logavou and Pita Bolaitoga will hope to do the best for the northerners.
If they are able to get the same sort of thrust and finishing as they did in 1992 under the guidance of Sami for sure Labasa will be seen in the final four.
As it stands, they will a hard side to beat and look set to make it an exciting set of matches against Ba, Rewa and Dreketi.
They will have no shortage of support in their campaign at Ratu Cakobau Park as seen in the past.
Labasa fans are very vocal and always are behind their team if they win or lose.
The nippy former Vodafone Fiji U-20 striker after his stint with Dreketi last season is back for the Babasiqa Lions and will be a player to watch.
Raju, 22 has scored two goals for the Labasa side in the Vodafone Premier League and if given chance he will surely put the ball behind the net.
He has the skills and drills to dribble past the defense of the opposition which he has shown during the Vodafone Premier League fixtures scoring two goals.
The six foot tall marksman is cheeky with his dribbling skills.
He is a very discipline and committed player.
