A Publication Report titled: Unseen, Unsafe: The UnderInvestment in Ending Violence Against Children in the Pacific and Timor-Leste was Launched this morning at Holiday Inn, Suva.

The Publication reveals the Endemic levels of violence against children across the Pacific Islands Nations and Timor-Leste

In their Report on Fiji, 72% of the Child Population experience Violent Discipline in the Home.

Courtney Innes-Senior Advisor Child Rights-Plan International Australia says according to the Report determining the scale of violence in the Pacific Region is  a complicated task because there is no limited nationally representative data on violence against children.

Fiji Council of Social Services Chief Executive Officer-Vani Catanasiga says this report raises some challenging statistics for us as a community.

She says the elimination of violence against children cannot be done by only a section of our society, it requires all of  the relevant CSOs, government and private sector to work together.

President of the Fiji Council of Churches- Reverend Tevita Bainivanua added the report that violence against children in Fiji is an issue of great concern.

One of the Key Report Recommendations is to strengthen intersectionality between violence against women and children programming and to increase Investment in Ending violence against children specific Initiatives in the Pacific Region.

The Publication was collaborative Effort of “Plan International-Australia” and “Save the Children Fiji”
