Ratu Epenisa Cakobau and others who were taken in for questioning by police on Friday – have been released.

This was confirmed by Police Commissioner – Sitiveni Qiliho yesterday.

A statement provided by Police yesterday, said that they had requested the Republic of Fiji Military Forces, to provide armed protection in the event of any confrontation with traditionally armed warriors, who had already arrived on the island of Bau.

Ratu Epenisa Cakobau and others – were taken in for questioning yesterday, after information was received that they were going ahead with the installation ceremony, despite the decision made by the Native Lands Commission, on Thursday afternoon.

The installation of the Vunivalu of Bau had been called off – after the Native Lands Commission found, that protocol had been breached, in the selection of the proposed candidate – Ratu Epenisa Cakobau.
