The National Disaster Management Office is advising the general public to exercise caution as a heavy rain warning remains in force for parts of the country.
Pedestrians and motorists are advised to refrain from walking or driving through floodwaters.
Though shallow and still in appearance, floodwaters may be deeper and faster flowing and may contain dangerous debris.
Flooding can also erode or wash away road surfaces creating potholes or uneven surfaces which may not be visible.
Parents and teachers are advised to monitor the whereabouts of children at all times and to keep them away from flooded drains or waterways.
The National Disaster Management advises families to keep emergency kits at all times including clean drinking water canned/dried food, a battery powered radio, a torch with spare batteries, medicine, important documents, clothes, and other essentials.
If unsure about your nearest evacuation center, contact your District Officer, District Advisory Councillor, or Village Headman.
Members of the public can contact the Fiji Roads Authority by phone on 5720 to enquire about affected roads and crossings.
