His Excellency, the President Major General (Ret’d) Jioji Konusi Konrote received courtesy call from the President of the Republic of Kiribati, His Excellency Te Beretitenti Taneti Maamau at Borron House today.
During their meeting, President Konrote acknowledged the support of the Government and the people of Kiribati on the issue of climate change that is affecting the Pacific.
President Konrote reiterated that Fiji’s COP23 presidency is solely not for Fiji but for the Pacific as Fiji takes the lead role in advocating on the effects of climate change in the Pacific.

“We are proud of Fiji taking on the Presidency of COP23 and the outcome of the Talanoa session, this is good opportunity for people to hear our stories of climate change.”
“We need to further promote the Talanoa Dialogue and we appreciate as small region in the Pacific our voices and stories of the effects of climate change is realized at international level.
