The Prime Minister of the Independent State of Papua New Guinea, Peter O’Neill arrived at the Nausori Airport yesterday afternoon.
This is his first Official visit to Fiji since he was elected as the Prime Minister of Papua New Guinea in 2012.
O’Neill with his seven member delegation arrived into Nausori Airport this afternoon and was accorded a state welcome with a 50 men Guard of Honor followed by a full traditional ceremony of welcome at the Grand Pacific Hotel.
The two day official visit will see Prime Minister O’Neill addressing the Fijian Parliament on the progress of preparations by his government for the hosting of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit in Port Moresby in November 2018.
The Prime Minister will also be the Keynote Speaker at a Public Lecture hosted by the University of the South Pacific later today.
Other programmes for the Leader’s visit include a visit to the Fiji Police Special Response Unit and a lunch hosted by the Fiji-PNG Business Council.
O’Neill will depart on Tuesday afternoon for Brisbane before heading back to Papua New Guinea.
