Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama yesterday received a farewell call from the outgoing Kiribati High Commissioner to Fiji, Reteta Nikuata-Rimon at his office in Suva.
Prime Minister Bainimarama acknowledged and thanked High Commissioner Rimon for her contributions and efforts towards the strengthened bilateral relations between Fiji and Kiribati.
He also wished High Commissioner Rimon, who has now retired, well with her future endeavors.
High Commissioner Rimon said her time in Fiji since taking up office in 2005 had been rewarding and an enjoyable one.
She said the two countries had enhanced development co-operation and engagements through the signing of various memorandums of understanding.
High Commissioner Rimon also thanked the Fijian Government for helping Kiribati purchase a piece of land in Vanua Levu, especially as the island nation struggled with the devastating effects of climate change.
She finished her term in office last month.
