The Pacific Fishing Company Limited factory (PAFCO) – was the first stop for Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama’s Levuka visit yesterday.
He was there to commission PAFCO’s new four thousand tonne cold storage facility.
Pafco has become a household name establishing itself well as the Tuna capital of Fiji.
Bainimarama highlighted its significant move from becoming the political capital during his address in Levuka ovalau yesterday.
Since its establishment in 1964, Pafco’s primary business was initially to receive and hold tuna for shipment to Japan for processing.
Bainimarama also highlighted the history of Pafco’s joint venture partnership with government.
Over the last 54 years pafco has been a source of employment for not only Ovalau but the entire lomaiviti province, becoming a pillar for the community and a pillar that has the support of government.
