The World Rugby Sevens tournament has been left stunned by a stupendous display of athleticism from Fiji’s Alosio Naduva.
Coming off a sparkling performance at the Hamilton Sevens last weekend, Fiji was immediately on the front foot against Japan when Naduva showcased his abilities.
Fiji sent a re-start from halfway, kicking the ball deep into Japanese territory.
The kick seemed destined to bounce over the dead ball line as the entire Japanese squad stood and watched the ball, before Naduva turned on the jets.
The 28-year-old met the ball just as it was about to bounce out of play and dove towards the ball, performing a perfect somersault which allowed him to plant the ball on the turf just inches before the ball went out of bounds.
The try left the commentators utterly dumbfounded.
“Look at how quick he is! Oh my word!” the commentator said.
“Mr. Nitro, that is ridiculous! One of the most spectacular five-pointers we’ve had all season long.
“That is just insane!”
Naduva’s spectacular try capped off what was another comprehensive performance from the Fiji side as they trounced Japan 34-5.
