A contingent of five New Zealand Defence Force and one Australian Defence Force personnel have been
deployed to Suva to conduct a four-weeks physical training instructors course.
The students are from Cook Islands, Fiji, Niue, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, and Tonga and include military, police and corrections representatives.
Based at the Fijian Police Academy, the NZDF physical training instructors will get the students qualified in the NZDF Assistant Physical Training Instructors Course.
At the conclusion of the four weeks the newly qualified instructors will return to their countries equipped with the skills to instruct their own forces in physical training, improving their fitness and health.
Defence Attaché to Fiji Lieutenant Colonel Josh Wineera said this was the first time the programme had been run and he was looking forward to seeing NZDF share skills and knowledge.
The training programme runs from 7 May to 1 June 2018.
