Fiji is just two days away from welcoming its new Members of Parliament.

The soon to be sworn in Members of Parliament, attended a briefing workshop today before they carry out their roles, as leaders of the country. All members of Parliament that will be sworn into Parliament next Monday are expected to remember that they are public officers.

This comes as a word of advice from the Parliament’s Secretary General during the pre-sitting induction was that was held this morning.

Speaking during the Parliament Induction Pre-Sitting Workshop, the Acting Secretary General, Viniana Namosimalua says the aim of the workshop is to provide the new and returning MPs with the basic information of parliament procedures.

Namosimalua says that parliamentarians are representatives of the people and they will come up with the issues that have been raised by the people that voted them in.

She added that Parliamentarians are a group of representatives that make quality decisions and value the citizens of the country.

The aim of the workshop is to provide the new and returning Members of Parliament with the basic information on Parliamentary procedures.

The new Speaker of the House is expected to be announced next week.
