10 Primary schools in the Ra province were today opened after reconstruction following the devastation caused by tropical Cyclone Winston in 2016.
These schools were constructed with the help and kind assistance of the Australian government.
A commitment by Australia as part of its $53 million response and recovery program to TCWinston.
Through the Australian government’s access to quality education program or AQEP, all repaired school buildings have met Fiji’s National Building Code and have been issued Cyclone certification.
As part of its commitment the Australian government undertook the repair and rebuilding of 34 schools that were damaged by TC Winston.
These new school buildings are also disability friendly which will provide access to quality education for more children with disabilities.
