The Village of Nakini in Naitasiri can now enjoy safe and clean drinking water for the very first time through the Ecological Purification System.
The system is designed to make a Germ Free safe drinking water by the wise use of natural ecological process without the use Chemicals.
Nakini Clan Headman-Eroni Koroiwaca shared on the benefits the system has bought to his village during the EPS Public Seminar held in USP Today.
Eroni Koroiwaca says his village can now enjoy access to clean drinking water after years of depending on their own water source that would usually be contaminated resulting in water related diseases for the villagers.
The Ecological Purification System uses natural resources such as natural living organisms, stones, gravel and sand for the purification process. The new system focuses on rural communities around Fiji will cater to almost 180 villagers in Nakini.
Minister for Infrastructure and Transport-Jone Usamate says about 27,000 Fijians from various communities in Fiji have benefited from this Project so far.
The Project is a Partnership between the Ministry of Works and the Japan International Cooperation Agency.
