Two municipal council workers who were allegedly found with coins hidden in their shoes during a spot check have been charged.
The spot check was conducted by the Council’s Financial Controller on Thursday afternoon.
The first accused a 25year old Auditor was allegedly found with $131 worth of coins hidden in his right shoe and $127 worth of coins hidden in his left shoe.
The second accused a 43year old booking officer was allegedly found with $4 hidden in his right shoe and more than $135 worth of coins were found in his office drawer.
Another accused a 45 year old worker was also searched where foreign and local coins were allegedly found inside his pocket and recovered from his office drawer.
The three have been charged with theft and will be produced at the Suva Magistrates Court tomorrow.
