More than 800 swimmers from 44 schools around the country are raring to take part in the two days of competition in the National Schools Swimming Championship at the Damodar Aquatic Centre in Suva.

National Schools Swimming Association President, Patrick Bower says due to the increase in the number of students participating this year, they should expect an early start on Friday.

27 Primary Schools and 17 Secondary Schools will be taking part in this year’s event.

Bower adds they are also expecting a tough competition from the swimmers as students are vying to make the qualifying times for the national finals.

The  National Schools Swimming Championship will be held on Friday and Saturday this week at the Damodar Aquatic Centre in Suva.
