Minister for Employment, Productivity and Industrial Relations, Jone Usamate met with the Deputy Regional Director, Panudda Boonpala and her team at the ILO Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific in Bangkok recently.
At the meeting, Minister Usamate highlighted some of the Ministry’s priorities and challenges.
Discussions were also held on areas where the ILO can better support their social partner through the Fiji Office within the framework of the ILO decent work country programme.
During the discussion the ILO was open to dialogue and was willing to continue working together with Fiji on all technical areas of need in supporting the economy and achieving the decent work country programme.
Usamate says he hopes to receive the ILO Report on the Situation of Employment in the economy that will be released in August.
