Minister for Defense and National Security, Ratu Inoke Kubuabola opened the 2nd Melanesian Spearhead Group (MSG) Regional Security Strategy Workshop in Nadi this morning.

The two-day meet includes country delegates from Fiji, the Solomon Islands, Vanuatu, Indonesia and the MSG Secretariat, led by Director General, Ambassador Amena Yauvoli and Chairman of the RSS, Ambassador Esala Teleni.

Ratu Inoke noted that a collaborative approach and overarching document was necessary to combat trafficking, cybersecurity challenges, climate change and non-traditional threats.

The workshop aims to develop a regional security strategy for the MSG region, an important task as member countries lay over the gateway to both Asia and the Pacific.
