The National Meningococcal Immunisation Program, which is currently being rolled out in the Western and Northern Division will commence in the Eastern Division next week.
An immunization team comprising of health officials will leave for the Eastern Division through the recently launched and first of its kind mobile hospital vessel “MLC Veivueti” tomorrow.
The program which initially started in the Central Division and Ra subdivision on 14th May this year has seen over 100 thousand children aged between 1 to 19 years have been vaccinated.
In the phase one of this National Meningococcal Immunization Program with the 124 thousand 830 doses made available, a total of 124 thousand 920 children have been immunized in the Central and Ra Subdivision.
Through the second phase of the program with 200 thousand doses made available more than 94 thousand children in the western and eastern divisions have been immunized. While Eastern coverage will see an expected 20 thousand number of children aged between 1 to 19 years being immunized with the beginning of the 3rd school term next week.
