Land Transport Authority is concerned with the increasing number of road accidents in the past weeks advising motorists to take extra care on our roads.
LTA Chairman,Vijay Maharaj says that drivers not adhering to road rules is one of the major attributing factors to road accidents this year.
Maharaj reminds all motorists to ensure they drive with courtesy at all times and within the road rules.
The current road death toll stands at 47 compared to 41 for the same period last year which is of grave concern.
He says some drivers continue to drive under the influence of alcohol, which is a great risk not only to the drivers but other road users as well.
Drivers have been given stern warnings from LTA not to drive under the influence of alcohol.
Maharaj further says LTA will not condone any corrupt practices, especially in acquiring of driver license by soliciting monies to driving instructors or driving examiners.
Those who are caught in any such act will bear the full brunt of the law.
