Last month alone close to 400 calls was received by LifeLine Fiji-the highest number recorded by the center.
This was revealed by Lifeline Fiji-Officer in Charge-Jeremaia Merekula.
20 percent of those calls were from people thinking of suicide. According to the Fiji Police Statistics-Suicide cases stand at 13 compared to 8 for the same period last year.
He said about 20 to 30 calls were received per day by Lifeline Fiji in February alone which is very alarming to the center and is alot of calls within a month.
60% of those calls were from males and 40% were from Females and calls received were on relationship break ups and 20% were from suicide ideation or people thinking of suicide.
Merekula says its still very important that people reach out when they are going through a crisis. Lifeline Fiji has 10 Crisis Support staff that are available 24 hours a day on their 132454 Toll Free Line.
