The President, Major-General (Ret’d) Jioji Konrote today officiates at the Commissioning Ceremony for Fiji’s Ambassador to the Republic of China, Lieutenant-Colonel Manasa Tagicakibau.

Tagicakibau was sworn in this morning as the new head of the Fijian diplomatic mission to the People’s Republic of China.

He will replace Ioane Naivalurua, who is now the Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs.

Before his appointment as Fiji’s top diplomat to the People’s Republic of China, Tagicakibau served as the Commissioner Western and the Director of Disaster Management Committee.

He has accomplished a lot during his tenure as Commissioner Western and has been recognized for the work he had done during natural disasters and development.

In April 2015, he headed the Fiji Response Team of 30 RFMF Engineers to Vanuatu for rehabilitation work post TC Pam.

Lt Col Tagicakibau held the appointment of Commanding Officer, Logistics Support Unit prior to being seconded to the Ministry of Provincial Development and National Disaster Management as Director National Disaster Management Office in 2012.
