The Wildlife Conservation Society Organization launched the First of its Kind “Kusima Mada” Cook Book last week in Suva.

Kusima Mada is a Fijian Word meaning  the pinnacle of appreciation for seafood and an invitation to come in and experience the mouth watering taste of seafood.

Organization Director-Dr Sangeeta Mangubhai says the cook book is the first of its kind in Fiji designed to promote sustainable seafood in Fiji.

The cook-book was written in collaboration with Australian Chef- Jason Allport and took a whole year of Research and testing out a variety of mouth-watering local ingredients and Recipes to be published.

With over over 80 Local recipes organized in terms of the habitats the species are found in from rivers, mangroves, coral reefs to the open ocean.-The Kusima Mada Cook book is a cook book journey with a Difference.

Dr Mangubhai says they did a lot of Research to make sure they were not promoting any species that maybe in decline or that was a concern to them. They wanted to use a lot of local produce as well to purely promote the foods that we have in our doorsteps.

The Cook book Project allowed the Team to go out to the various communities and capture women involved in their Fishing activities around the Country.

The Kusima Mada Cookbook will be made available to interested members of the public for purchase by mid- next month.
