Minister for Local Government, Environment and Housing, Infrastructure and Transport, Parveen Kumar has urged all Fijians to come together and combat one of the greatest environmental challenges –plastic pollution.
Speaking at the launch of the National Environment Celebration in Ba today, Minister Kumar said Governments commitment to a better Fiji also means protecting and enhancing our natural environment for the next generation.
“This approach is central priority for the FijiFirst government, our task is to build a Fiji where the next generation can enjoy a better life than the one that went before,” Kumar said.
“For Government investing to improve the quality of life all Fijians means building affordable housing and establishing formal out of informal or squatter settlements.”
The World Environment Day national goal was to inspire the kind of solutions that led to sustainable behavioral change and this would enable people to build on the national momentum to beat plastic pollution.
Today’s celebrations featured a march through Ba town, schools from the western division, stakeholders and the neighboring communities gathered to celebrate World Environment Day.
