Minister for Local Government, Housing, Environment, Infrastructure and Transport, Parveen Kumar officiated at a remembrance program by Khalsa College to mark the first year death anniversary of its former school Principal, eminent author and educator, Jogindar Singh (JS) Kanwal in Ba.

Also in attendance was the family and widow of the late educator’, Mrs. Amarjit Kanwal, the Tui Ba, Ratu Filimoni Nale and India’s High Commissioner to Fiji, His Excellency Mr. Vishvas Sapkal.

The program include poetry recitals by Khalsa College language students , a kirtan on the late J.S Kanwal by Khalsa College’s Hindi teacher Mr. Rohit Prasad and the donation of a television for the college’s library, which is named after the late educator.

A plaque was also unveiled to commemorate the late author and poet alongside the announcement of a new library section featuring his written works, for Ba Town’s civic library.
