Minister for Industry, Trade, Tourism, Lands and Mineral Resources Hon. Faiyaz Koya launched the Prime Minister’s International Business Awards (IBA).

In launching the event, Minister Koya highlighted that the IBA recognises and rewards the best businesses, empowering the corporate world to excel.

“I wish to reiterate that the private sector is the engine for growth. Whilst the Fijian Government provides an enabling and conducive environment, for businesses to flourish.”

“Investments is a crucial contributor to continuous positive growth of the Fijian economy. The Fijian economy is on track for its ninth consecutive year of positive growth. For this year, a growth of 3.2 percent is forecasted.”

Minister Koya also highlighted that this year there are 12 categories and this ensures that none of the sectors or business are left out.

“The contribution of each sector or business to the economy, despite size, nature and markets needs to be recognized.”

The Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism is also sponsoring two categories, namely the Best Medium Business Operating Internationally and Excellence in Innovation.

This year’s awards will be held in November.
