A total of 1235 recipients received grants of up to $1000 through the fifth phase of the 2017-2018 Micro Small Business Grant disbursement by Government in Rakiraki today.

Minister for Industry, Trade, Tourism, Lands and Mineral Resources, Faiyaz Siddiq Koya, said the grants would not only assist the respective businesses of recipients, but also generate economic activity for province of Ra and the people of Rakiraki.

“With the grant assistance of up to $1000 provided to each recipient, businesses in your province will benefit through their hire sales and supermarkets, hardware and retail stores,” Mr Koya said.

“As a result, employment opportunities would also be generated on the expansion of these businesses.”

Koya reassured the people of Rakiraki that the Fijian Government will continue to deliver the services like this grant distribution to ensure that all Fijians have the right to economic empowerment which is enshrined in the Constitution.

At the end of today’s event, 242 recipients who have already been assisted under the MSGB grant were also rehabilitated because they were affected during the recent cyclone Josie and Keni.
