A week after recording their greatest win, the Sunwolves may be fearing the end of their Super Rugby stint.

The Daily Telegraph in Australia has reported the Japanese franchise could be cut from the competition as early as next season

When Sanzaar officials meet this weekend to discuss Super Rugby’s future, the Telegraph reports the key proposal is to get rid of the Sunwolves, with South African officials leading the charge.

The Sunwolves achieved their first away win on the competition last weekend when they stunned the Chiefs 30-15 at Waikato Stadium.

The franchise may be given a one-year stay of execution for 2020 but be gone from a Super 14 competition the following season, the report says.
