Japan will not be rated out in the Junior Pan Pacific Championship.

The team is slowly closing in on USA after dominating two heats in the 200 meter Butterfly event.

Maina Naito finished first in  the third heat with 2 minutes 11 seconds.

However, this was a neck to neck finish with USA’s Looney Lindsay who finished with the same time but split difference in seconds.

Angeli Yip came first in the 4th heat defeating Beasley Herbert of Canada.

In the second heat, Chio Mizguchi came in second with a time of 2 minutes 12 seconds behind USA’S Lillie Nordman who swam a time of 2 minutes 11 seconds.

Meanwhile, Fiji’s Moana Wind won her 200 meter Butterfly heats.

The heat featured all Team Fiji swimmers with Katarina Bobi finishing in second leaving Joan McGowan in third place.
