Assistant Minister for Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation, Veena Bhatnagar officiated at inaugural Early Childhood Education (ECE) celebrations at the Nadi Centre for Special Education this morning.

She noted that with over 150 million children aged 3-5 not having access to pre-primary education around the world, Fijian children were among the lucky ones to have this educational aspect a compulsory part of their education system.

This year’s ECE Week theme is “Quality Early Childhood Care and Education-Everyone’s Responsibility.”

“This year’s theme supports findings from researchers on the importance of nurturing children’s development, care and education, well before they begin formal schooling,” Assistant Minister Bhatnagar added.
