The Ministry of Health and Medical Services continues to install new incinerators at hospitals around the country.
This was highlighted during the Assistant Minister for Health and Medical Services, Alexander O’Connor’s visit to northern health facilities last week.
The idea of incinerator installations eventuated through O’Connor’s initial tour to the health facilities in February last year where it was established that the old incinerators needed urgent replacements.
In response to this need, the Health Ministry has continued to install new incinerators to ensure that health facilities have proper disposal facilities at a cost of $18,000.
Meanwhile, O’Connor while speaking to the health staff in the northern division emphasised the efficient use of the equipment and tools provided.
“Please do take care of these equipment as they are expensive, we should be mindful of maintaining it to ensure long lasting efficiency of the resources provided”, O’Connor said.
The Health Ministry acknowledges the fact that the provision of healthcare equipment and consumables must be readily available to assist health staff in diligently carrying out their duties efficiently.
New incinerators were installed at the Savusavu hospital, Nabouwalu hospital, Levuka hospital and Korovou hospital in Tailevu.
