Government through the National Employment Centre of the Ministry of Employment has increased the weekly work attachment allowance for National Employment Centre Clients effective from 28 June 2018.
This was endorsed by the National Employment Centre Board after consultations with tripartite members of the Board.
The revised weekly work attachment allowance is necessary considering the level of qualification attained and the level of skills possessed by clients.
The weekly work attachment allowance for diploma and degree level have doubled ($30 to $60) whereas for primary, secondary and certificate level it has been increased 60 percent ($30 to $50)
The revised rates will be complemented by the employers’ additional 50 percent component on cost sharing basis of allowance.
In view of this revision, the Minister for Employment Jone Usamate urges all employers who have signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the National Employment Centre to visit the nearest NEC Office to renew their Agreements and also encourages the payment of the rightful allowance entitlement for their attachees.
