The Ovaltine Suva Business House Futsal Soccer League has entered into the second leg of pool games whereby each of the 32 participating teams will replay the same teams again over a period of six weeks.
“We have successfully completed the home leg of pool games at the National Hockey Centre in Laucala Bay whereby each team has played three respective games from the eight different pools that we have this year,” tournament organiser Alan Kumar of Bula Events Group said.
“While the venue remains the same, we have executed the pool matches on a home and away basis to keep things simple,” Mr Kumar added.
With 32 teams participating in this year’s Ovaltine Suva Business House Futsal Soccer League, each round of games is played in two phases whereby 16 teams participate in each phase over a period of two weeks.
“While we have completed three rounds of games over a period of six weeks, the first phase of round four of pool games which was scheduled for Tuesday, March 26 last week had to be called off due to extreme weather conditions in the capital city,” Mr Kumar added.
He said those missing pool games will be played at a later date while teams which have participated in the pool games this week are from the second batch of sixteen teams.
“The first batch of sixteen teams which missed out on their fourth respective pool games in the return leg will cover up at a later date.”
Mr Kumar said five teams in the likes of Pacific Customs, Energy Fiji Limited, Motibhai Group, Gokals and HFC Bank have emerged as tournament favourites following the completion of the first leg of pool games.
The games continue at the same venue next week.
