A not guilty plea was entered at the Labasa Magistrates Court by a former school manager charged with corruption.

Thomas Hewson was charged by the Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption with one count of Obtaining a Financial Advantage.

It is alleged that from January 2014 to January 2015, Hewson engaged in acts which resulted in him acquiring 45 thousand 448 dollars and 90 cents.

FICAC State Counsel Josanne Pene informed the court that there are partial admissions in the Caution Interview.

Hewson’s Legal Aid counsel, John Prasad, informed the court that they would be challenging the Caution Interview and would file Voir Dire grounds accordingly.

Resident Magistrate Tuberi Cama instructed defense to file and serve the Voir Dire grounds by the next mention date.

The matter was adjourned to 23 November 2018 with bail for the accused being extended
